MAKING YOUR VOICEOVER AUDIO SOUND AMAZING DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SCARY!
Whether you just got your first home studio setup with some blankets and your first microphone -- or you're an established VO pro -- there are countless ways to improve and optimize your home studio audio without it being a royal pain in the a**.
Instead of hopelessly clicking through "vocal" presets and hoping it sounds good -- This pre-recorded (not live), take-at-your-own-pace course teaches you, step by step, how to dissect, improve, elevate your raw audio -- and stand out above the sea of poor or mediocre audio.
LEARN WITH BOTH YOUR EARS
AND YOUR EYES
Audio can be intimidating and scary as hell. But nobody starts with a perfectly trained ear, right? Use the power of visual tools to help you learn what sounds good versus what sounds bad. All with the power of free or affordable plug-ins. You don't have to be a full blown audio engineer to be create amazing sounding VO audio. Nor does it have to be boring to learn this stuff. The course is in layman's terms, is engaging, and fun.
GOODBYE CRAPPY "VOICEOVER" PLUG-IN PRESETS
Presets can be an OK starting point - but they usually make your audio sound a lot worse than it did without the preset.
You'll learn how to dial in your own, customized, and gentle preset. It'll sound so smooth and subtle that it won't even sound "processed." Allowing your auditions to really shine -- and seriously impress clients with your finished audio.

Will this teach me the basics of what gear to buy, how to hook it up, and get started recording VO for the first time? No. This course is for those who at least have their microphone set up and know the very basics of how to hit record and edit their audio (deleting, copying/pasting) -- all the way up to savvy working pros. Click here VO gear I recommend. Click here if you're wanting to learn more about how to get into voice-over.
-
Wait, but I've always been told to never process or touch my audio. Right? The ultimate goal of your home studio is to never have to apply ANY processing to your audio. And that's why this course has a huge focus on PREVENTION FIRST. Each topic covers prevention in depth. But let's keep it real - there's only so much prevention you can do when it comes to your neighbor's air conditioning unit noise getting into your audio -- or trying to make your tiny closet covered in blankets not sound like a muffled box -- or not having enough money to upgrade to a better mic that's not so harsh and bright on your voice. There are ways to fix these problems with processing. But only after you've done everything you can to prevent the problems first. Processing is always a last resort. This course teaches you when to use processing, and if you do, it's always 100% intentional, subtle, and transparent.
-
What gear and software is required in order to take this course? All you need is: -A good quality microphone (click here for my recommendations). -A good pair of headphones. -Some kind of acoustic treatment like blankets, pillows - all the way up to a professional booth. -A laptop or desktop computer (Mac or PC). -Most recording softwares (DAW) should work. If you have any issues with following along in your DAW of choice, then you can leave a comment in the course and I'll help you. If you're using Audacity, then be sure to use the Realtime Effects feature to build your effects rack. -We'll be using a small combination of free, high quality plug-ins along with Izotope RX Elements or Standard. However, RX is not required in order to get full benefit from the course.
-
I have a Universal Audio Apollo. Will this teach me how to use the console software and the UAD plug-ins?UAD Apollo owners will definitely benefit from this course, however, this course will not teach you how to setup UAD plug-ins specifically. But the concepts of acoustics, EQ, compression, de-essing, and more - will still apply to your UAD plug-ins. You also don't need to use UAD plug-ins in order to optimize your audio. The tools we'll be working with in this course are amazing. Also, Jordan already has a UAD Apollo Console specific course in the queue!
-
I already have great equipment and even a pro vocal booth. Shouldn't my audio already sound great? It might! But to be honest, many of Jordan's most pro VO audio clients have needed a tune-up. For example, those expensive pre-made VO booths don't sound so great out of the box. They usually sound boxy and require special microphone positioning, EQ settings, acoustic treatment, and more to make it sound a lot more smooth and natural.
-
I work and audition for multiple genres like commercials, video games, e-learning, and more. Will this course help me?Absolutely! As a voice actor, Jordan works in many different genres himself. He's also optimized the home studios of all types of voice actors working in virtually every genre. He's refined the sound of heavy hitting promo voice talent, prominent video game voice actors, and many voice artists who just put together their first home studio. He has a keen understanding of what audio standards are appropriate and expected for each individual genre.
-
Will this teach me how to make my audio super hyped, polished, and punchy? Not exactly. The goal of this course is to either dramatically, or subtly, improve the quality of your voiceover audio. Some audio requires more work than others. But the results will never never sound aggressive, overly hyped, or obviously processed. If applied correctly, your audio will end up sounding, clean, present, and broadcast ready. This is not a "how to make a movie trailer sound preset" course 😉.
-
Will this teach me how to mix my voice with music and sound effects? No. This course is specifically focused on improving the sound of your just your voice-over audio. However, if there's enough demand, Jordan is considering making a separate course on how to mix VO with music and sound effects.
-
I'm a podcaster/content creator and not a voice actor. Will this course still help me with my audio?Yes! Because the ultimate outcome of this course is to make your recorded voice sound as smooth, optimized, and clean as possible.
-
Is this course for Mac or PC?It's for both! Both Mac and PC users will 100% equally benefit from the course. No Mac vs PC wars here.
-
Is this a live class I have to attend or is it recorded lessons I can watch on my own? This course is 100% recorded and ready for you to dig in at your own pace and at your own time. No stress of having to schedule in or even missing important live classes.
